Wednesday, 14 August 2015 1:46 PM

Barcelona is a chic, cosmopolitan city and an excellent place to travel to if you're looking for a fantastic night out. Of course, you won't just want to go to any old bars, though - you'll be keen to seek out the hottest, most exclusive nightspots in town.

Luckily for you, we've put together some information about a few of Barcelona's chicest bars and clubs to help you plan your getaway. If you still need accommodation for your Spanish city break, check out what's on offer on this website.

Back to the bars though ...

Dry Martini Bar
Where: Carrer Aribau 162-166, Eixample

Dry Martini Bar is certainly one of Barcelona's best cocktail bars and is a fantastic place to begin a night out in the city. The signature cocktail here is (you guessed it) a dry martini, so make this your order if you want to sample an amazing example of this classic concoction.

There's an air of exclusivity to the bar's atmosphere, but not one that's uncomfortable and the staff are excellent, both at mixing a wide range of drinks and at providing recommendations from their extensive menu.

Marmalade Bar
Where: Riera Alta 4-6, El Ravel

Over in El Ravel is another of Barcelona's coolest bars - Marmalade. This place is decked out in a stylish 50s design that perfectly captures all that's cool about retro without taking it too far.

The cocktail list is very impressive, with plenty of classics alongside more unusual mixes - and what's even better is that, despite its chic clientele and high-end ambience, the prices are very reasonable. The other plus to Marmalade is that it boasts an outstanding restaurant, so start your night off here with a late dinner and a few drinks before moving on to one of Barcelona's clubs to dance the night away.

Where: Planeta 39, Gracia

Given that TimeOut described L'Entresol as "probably the coolest bar in Gracia" it certainly deserves to be on your shortlist of nightspots to visit during your trip. The decor is stylish, the music is excellent and it's got a G&T menu that will blow you away.

There are over 35 brands of premium gin on sale behind the bar here and you can try the spirit with a wide variety of mixers and in various cocktails too - if you're not sure how to deviate from a standard gin and tonic, speak to the knowledgeable bar staff who can guide you in the direction of a drink you'll love.

Where: Passeig Maritim, on the beach

CDLC - or the Carpe Diem Lounge Club to give it its full name - is one of Barcelona's most exclusive and hottest night clubs - it really is the place to be seen on a night out here. With the music pumping and drinks flowing until 05:45 in the morning, you've got plenty of time to enjoy all that it has to offer.

Hit the dance floor, chill out in one of the private tents with your friends or relax in its comfy lounge seating and just soak up the atmosphere. The dress code here is 'elegant' and CDLC has been known to attract the odd celebrity, so it's a great place to people watch.

Where: Carrer de Maria Cubi, on the edge of Gracia

Universal is another of Barcelona's top clubs and there are two floors here each offering something quite different. Head downstairs to dance to house music, or make your way to the upper floor for some pop, funk and 80s tunes.

The whole place has a modern, clean-cut design and attracts a trendy, young crowd. Dress to impress when you come here for an evening and mingle with some of Barcelona's beautiful people.
